EnviroMed Services, Inc. is currently providing Independent Monitoring of Lead Paint Removal Operations at Various Locations Citywide. In this current role EnviroMed is fully aware of the NYCDOT requirements and has developed a time-tested approach to implement them successfully. We are fully knowledgeable regarding the environmental and worker protection related requirements based on the New York State (NYS) Standard Specification, the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and other regulatory requirements such as the OSHA and EPA regulations governing ambient air quality standards for lead and hazardous materials management.
EnviroMed is providing services to NYCDOT Bureau of Bridges including the attendance at the pre-construction phase of the citywide projects in support of the initial kick-off meetings, review of contractor submittals and monitoring of community notifications.
We also provide on-going construction phase support by providing environmental inspectors (overseers) for project assignment and monitoring for contractor compliance with contract specifications, the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as providing a certified industrial hygienist for specialized services and review.
During the post construction phase of lead abatement or environmental tasks, EnviroMed provides services for monitoring the project closeout report, including on-site environmental inspection. In our current role EnviroMed has provided both the highest quality of on-site inspections as well as detailed weekly and monthly reports to the Director.
Our current experience with the NYCDOT Bureau of Bridges has allowed EnviroMed staff to effectively respond to emergency situations including work over water, which may include visible emissions from a containment during work activities, hazardous waste storage concerns at the project sites, non-compliance to state, local or US EPA and OSHA regulations as well as the proper transfer of hazardous waste. Safety concerns related to lead abatement and construction activities that may range from community exposure to noise to heat stress, fire protection, respiratory protection, cherry pickers and manlift operations and fall protection have also been addressed by our staff and monitored accordingly during our tenure with the NYCDOT.
EnviroMed Services has monitored more than 95 major Class 1A abrasive blasting projects within the City of New York. These Class 1A containments were evaluated and commented on by EnviroMed’s project managers and environmental overseers for conformance to the FEIS and deleading specifications prior to their erection on the various superstructures.
During the time that these containment’s have been erected and abrasive blasting performed, EnviroMed’s certified staff have been auditing the projects and evaluating the effectiveness of the containment’s, as well as performing quality control in the form of visible emissions assessments using USEPA Method 22 and real time monitoring around openings, seams and entryways. In conjunction to the quality control described, EnviroMed also evaluates the data collected by the on-site environmental overseers to determine if compliance to regulations and the NYCDOT deleading specifications are being met.
