How do I know if I should test for mold?
Mold it’s always visible, and it doesn’t always have a smell – but often, one or both are present. A musty or earthy odor can indicate mold spores are airborne and circulating indoors, affecting your indoor air quality.
You may want to consider mold testing if you note:
- Musty or unusual odor that comes and goes
- Stains and/or discoloration on walls, ceilings, or materials
- Rooms that feel persistently damp or humid
- Recent leaks, spills, or water damage
- Unexplained allergy-like symptoms that improve when you leave the space
- An increase in existing health symptoms – especially for people who are more sensitive (ex: allergies, asthma, or respiratory conditions.
Testing is also helpful when:
- You suspect mold but don’t see anything visible
- Mold may be hidden behind walls, floors, or ceilings
- You see suspect visible mold on surfaces or materials
- You need documentation for landlords, insurance, real estate, and/or workplace concerns
Testing is the only way to confirm mold and learn whether it’s allergenic or toxigenic — and we help you decide the next steps.
