Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Health

EnviroMed provides industrial hygiene and occupational health services to support safe work environments, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making for commercial, institutional, and municipal clients. Our services focus on identifying potential exposure pathways, evaluating workplace conditions, and providing practical recommendations aligned with applicable occupational health and safety standards.

Workplace Exposure Assessments

Workplace exposure assessments are conducted to evaluate potential employee exposure to airborne contaminants that may be present during routine operations, maintenance activities, or specific tasks. These assessments focus on identifying exposure pathways and understanding how work practices, materials, and environmental conditions may contribute to occupational risk.

EnviroMed’s assessments typically evaluate exposure to dusts, particulates, fumes, mists, and vapors through task-based and area monitoring approaches. Sampling strategies are developed based on site-specific operations and applicable occupational exposure criteria. Results are evaluated against relevant standards and guidelines issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and other recognized authorities.

Findings from workplace exposure assessments are documented in a clear, defensible format and may be used to support exposure control strategies, engineering or administrative controls, personal protective equipment evaluations, and ongoing compliance programs.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments

Indoor Air Quality assessments evaluate environmental conditions that may affect occupant comfort, health, and productivity in commercial and institutional buildings. EnviroMed conducts IAQ assessments using a combination of direct-reading instruments, air sampling, and field observations to evaluate ventilation performance and potential contaminant sources.

IAQ evaluations may include measurements of temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, and airborne particulates. Sampling results are interpreted relative to applicable occupational and building performance guidance, including standards published by ASHRAE and OSHA.
Where appropriate, air samples may be collected for laboratory analysis to further characterize particulate or microbial components present in indoor environments. Findings are compared to outdoor baseline conditions and evaluated in the context of building use, HVAC operation, and observed conditions.

Dust & Total Particulate Monitoring

Dust and total particulate monitoring is performed to assess the presence and relative concentration of airborne particulate matter that may impact worker health or indoor environments. Assessments may include real-time particulate monitoring combined with air sampling for microscopic analysis to characterize particle types and relative loading.
Total particulate analysis can help identify dust-related exposure concerns associated with building materials, operations, maintenance activities, or ventilation system performance. Results are evaluated against applicable occupational exposure limits and industry guidance and used to support recommendations for corrective actions, engineering controls, or further investigation, as needed.

HVAC, Ventilation & Hood Performance Evaluations

EnviroMed evaluates HVAC systems and laboratory ventilation equipment to assess system performance, cleanliness, and potential contribution to indoor air quality concerns. Evaluations may include inspection of system components for particulate accumulation, moisture intrusion, or microbial growth, as well as assessment of airflow patterns and system integrity.

Laboratory fume hoods and local exhaust ventilation systems are assessed to verify proper operation and containment effectiveness. These evaluations help ensure that airborne contaminants are effectively captured and that systems are functioning in accordance with applicable safety and performance expectations.

Mold Investigations (Commercial & Institutional Facilities)

Mold investigations are conducted to assess potential microbial growth resulting from moisture intrusion, building material degradation, or ventilation deficiencies. EnviroMed’s mold investigations focus on identifying moisture sources, evaluating exposure pathways, and characterizing indoor air quality impacts.

Investigations may include visual assessments, moisture measurements, thermal imaging, and air and surface sampling, as appropriate. Laboratory analysis is used to characterize fungal structures present, and results are evaluated in the context of building conditions and occupant exposure potential. Findings are documented in a comprehensive report that includes observations, conclusions, and recommended next steps.

EnviroMed also provides remediation planning support, oversight during corrective actions, and post-remediation clearance testing to verify that conditions have been adequately addressed.

Lead Health & Safety Prevention Programs

EnviroMed provides lead health and safety services focused on hazard identification, exposure prevention, and regulatory compliance. Services are designed to support municipalities, housing authorities, healthcare facilities, and commercial property owners in managing lead-based paint and lead-containing materials in occupied and unoccupied buildings.
Services may include lead inspections and risk assessments using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) technology, dust wipe and soil sampling, and evaluation of potential exposure pathways. Where lead hazards are identified, EnviroMed develops lead hazard reduction or management plans that prioritize the least disruptive and most effective control strategies.

EnviroMed’s licensed project designers prepare lead abatement design plans and specifications, support bid processes, review contractor submittals, and provide construction-phase oversight and clearance testing. Programs are developed in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and emphasize occupant protection, proper waste handling, and documentation for regulatory compliance.

Chemical Hygiene & Occupational Health Planning

EnviroMed supports the development and review of Chemical Hygiene Plans for laboratory and industrial environments to help organizations comply with applicable occupational health requirements. Services include evaluation of chemical handling practices, ventilation controls, training protocols, and documentation systems intended to protect employees from chemical hazards and support safe operations.
